Safe Environment
Safe Environment

The Safe Environment Program (SEP) program is an important aspect of our Parish service to the community. SEP mandated by the Diocese of Dallas and requires that each volunteer be cleared through a standardized process of background checks.

Safe Environment guidelines encourage parishioners to be at all times safety conscious and to be vigilant in the oversight of their children not only at Mass, but at all parish functions.

Note: You must be a registered member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for 6 months prior to starting the Safe Environment Screening process.

New Volunteers

Follow these steps to become a cleared volunteer at St. Anthony's:
  • You must attend the Safe Environment Class - Watch the bulletin for dates and times or contact the Parish office.

  • Complete the Safe Environment Screening Form before class - Download it to your computer, print out the form, complete it, sign it and bring it with you to the class.

  • Optionally: You may, before the class, read the Parish and Diocese of Dallas’ Safe Environment Manual available in PDF. (A new browser window will open) - You will have to read this during the class.

Previously Cleared Volunteers

All cleared volunteers must attend an Annual Awareness Update session. There are 3 ways you can keep your cleared status current.

  • Participate in an online session. Follow these steps:

    1. Go to Diocese of Dallas' web site

    2. Click on the Safe Environment Tab.

    3. Click on “Update Training” link.

    4. Choose 1 of the 5 subjects listed.

    5. Follow the directions.

    6. After you complete the class, a form will appear. Please print out this form, sign it, date it and return it to the Safe Environment Director at the Parish office.

  • Watch the Sunday Bulletin and web site for dates and times for Safe Environment training sessions

  • Call the Parish office to set up a time to watch the Safety video (at the office) - by appointment only.

For more information, please contact the Parish Secretary. You may also read the Safe Environment Covenant of the Bishop and Presbyterate of Dallas.
